Susan Miller, Ph. D. - Senior Instructor
DR. SUSAN MILLER received her Ph.D. in Human Development and Communication Science from the University of Texas at Dallas. She is a clinical consultant and an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at the Georgetown University Hospital and a clinical associate for The George Washington University Voice Treatment Center. As the founder of Voicetrainer, LLC, she uniquely integrates across multiple disciplines including psychology, speech physiology and therapy, and high end media communication consulting. As a vocal coach, she specializes in the refinement of the speaking voice, elimination of public speaking anxiety, effective communication, and treatment of the injured voice user. Dr. Miller has over twenty-six years of experience with professional and amateur speakers, radio and news broadcasters, non-native speakers, and singers. She is a featured speaker for national and international organizations such as the Smithsonian Institution and the Japan Society of Logopedics and Phoniatrics. Frank Marsh – Senior Instructor
FRANK MARSH is a former Marine Corps Intelligence Officer who served during Desert Storm and rescue operations into Mogadishu, Somalia. After leaving the Marine Corps, he worked for the Drug Enforcement Administration as an Intelligence Analyst at the El Paso Intelligence Center in El Paso, Texas. In 1993, Frank transferred to the National Drug Intelligence Center, located in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. As a trainer for the Department of Justice’s National Drug Intelligence Center, he has taught special agents, intelligence analysts, police officers, investigators, and Assistant U.S. Attorneys around the world the power of effective communication. In addition, he is a certified handwriting analyst who has been called upon by law enforcement as an expert witness. A prominent speaker and facilitator Frank delivers to corporations, associations, and universities on the Power of Words – Success, Wellness, Attitude, and Teamwork.
Michele Pollard Patrick - Senior Instructor
MICHELE POLLARD PATRICK is a certified Protocol Officer, professional image coach and has been a business etiquette consultant to corporate clients since 1989. She brings in-depth knowledge to her seminar presentations, and is recognized as an expert in the field of business etiquette and protocol. Michele is the founder of National Protocol, Ltd, a multi-level training organization based in Washington, D.C. Included in her list of private clients are some of Washington’s most prominent figures. Michele is a certified teacher, former corporate trainer for Xerox Corporation and published author. For over 20 years, she has effectively coached corporate and government executives on the interpersonal skills that instill confidence and project professionalism. Her programs have been profiled on network and cable television shows as well as featured in national newspapers and magazines. Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, international organizations, large law firms and universities have made use of her services. Chris Ulrich – Senior Instructor
CHRISTOPHER ULRICH is an improviser, personal trainer, and business professional who uses a mixture of improvisation, movement, and meditation to slow down and create a sense of awareness in his work and life. He believes we are more creative and centered in our work and play when coming from a place of awareness and ease rather than a place of tension and fear.
Since 2005, Chris has been performing regularly in Comedy School Cast shows and Long Form Improv Showcases at the DC Improv. Most recently, Chris was a cast member in the DC based comedy pilot, Capital Gym, which was entered in the 2009 NexTV Pilot Competition and appeared on the Food Network’s Dinner Impossible with Chef Robert Irvine. He has studied improv comedy at the Uprights Citizens Brigade and Peoples Improv Theater in New York, Annoyance Theater in Chicago, and at the DC Improv in Washington.
Chris’ experience includes working as an American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified personal trainer; he guides clients to define and reach their fitness and nutritional goals. In addition, Chris spent fifteen years working in the highest levels of politics, the private sector, and with foreign governments. His political background has given him an understanding of the value in staying both aware and focused in high pressure situations.

JAMES J. NEWBERRY is a retired U.S. Treasury Agent who served 27 years with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). He has worked a number of undercover assignments. He gained a reputation as a thorough bomb and arson investigator having perfected a number of high-profile complex investigations where he routinely obtained confessions. His last four years prior to retirement, he was the Intelligence Officer for the ATF San Francisco Field Division, and guest instructor to the ATF National Academy at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia.
Mr. Newberry is also a retired U.S. Military Intelligence Officer, having served 22 years in the reserve intelligence program. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and served as an instructor for the 6th Army Area Intelligence School.
Mr. Newberry is the cofounder of the Analytic Interviewing Course, having trained over 10,000 law enforcement and intelligence officers. He is recognized as the best in his field at detecting deception. Tested by Dr. Paul Ekman, University of California Medical School, Behavioral Sciences, Mr. Newberry scored the highest of over 3,500 federal, state, and local law enforcement and intelligence agents. He is the only person to obtain a near perfect score having only one incorrect observation (answer). Mr. Newberry, and cofounder Carrol Stubbs adapted Dr. Ekman’s research material for the Analytic Interviewing course. They used it to train a number of hand-picked students to be instructors. Those instructors now teach Analytic Interviewing throughout the United States, Australia, and the Pacific Rim.
Terence Noonan – Senior Instructor
TERENCE NOONAN, a four-time Emmy Award winner, is currently the Supervising Producer of The Doctor Oz Show. Noonan is the co-author with Marta Tracy of Starring You! Insider Strategies On How TV and Media Can Help You Launch Your brand, Your Business and Your Life! Over the course of Noonan's fifteen-year career, he has produced hundreds of successful lifestyle, business, reality, brand, and celebrity segments for such shows as Ellen DeGeneres, Rosie O¹Donnell Show, and Isaac Mizrahi.
Linda Clemons – Senior Instructor
LINDA CLEMONS is one of the top sales trainers as well as one of the most widely respected motivational speakers in the country today. With her contagious enthusiasm and captive energy, she has been able to motivate audiences everywhere in achieving their maximum potential. She is the CEO of Sisterpreneur, Inc., an international business empowerment organization and a popular radio and television personality.
Her extensive sales and business knowledge have encouraged many individuals to achieve professional and personal success. Linda’s passion to help others excel makes her training seminars unique and special. Her spellbinding training messages have helped ordinary individuals to become extraordinary achievers. Richard Mullender – Senior Instructor
RICHARD MULLENDER, creator of the Advanced Interviewing Course for Scotland Yard and Police Detectives, recently retired from the Hostage and Crisis Negotiation Unit at Scotland Yard, and was, until his retirement, the lead trainer of the National Hostage and Crisis Negotiators Course.
Richard has been trained by Dr Eric Shepherd, a leading figure in crime investigation, and in the United States by Professor Paul Ekman, the world’s leading authority on body language. Richard has always believed that investigation and analysis go hand in hand and he therefore completed an Analyst and i2 course in 1997.
In 2001, Richard was selected to work for the National Crime Operational Faculty at the Police Staff College (Bramshill) as their lead in Investigative Interviewing. Throughout his time there he was responsible for ensuring the quality of interviewing training nationwide. Having been trained as a negotiator and attended a number of incidents he was given the responsibility for redesigning and developing the national Hostage Negotiator course. This course is now recognized as the most progressive negotiation course in the world and Richard is still asked to Lecture to Police Forces all over the world. As lead trainer on the course, he trained over 100 negotiators from the UK, the United Nations, the FBI, and from a wide variety of other countries.
Aaron Brehove
AARON BREHOVE is a television personality, keynote speaker, and fraud investigator. While working at one of the big four accounting firms, Aaron’s investigations have included multi-billion dollar ponzi schemes, IRS tax evasions, and whistler blower allegations. Among others, Aaron has been on NBC's Today Show. For TruTV he has analyzed the testimony of a father who allegedly tortured and murdered his daughter. Aaron is also a senior instructor at the Body Language Institute, located in Alexandria, VA. Aaron has been trained in interviewing techniques and detecting deception by current and former government investigators from the ATF, FBI, State Police, among others. Aaron lives and trains in Washington, DC.
Aaron Altscher - Instructor
AARON ALTSCHER is a polished, dynamic and entertaining presenter who infuses young people and innovative companies with the inspiration and direction. Through interactive entertainment, Aaron engages the audience to think practically on such topics as landing a job, separating yourself from the crowd, or finding leadership potential within yourself. Aaron has served as a keynote speaker at several corporations and organizations like the Columbia Bank and Young Professionals Network. He has spoken at several area universities, including University of Maryland Baltimore County, Towson University, Howard Community College, and University of Mary Washington. Previously featured on NBC’s “The Apprentice” with Donald Trump and Donnie Deutsch TV show, “The Big Idea“ today, Aaron owns and operates Altscher Consulting, a branding, marketing and sales firm. In addition, he serves as Managing Director of a multi-million dollar Internet company where he oversees all business operations. Aaron is a professor of entrepreneurship at Howard Community College and a volunteer business coach. In his spare time, he enjoys playing guitar and coaching baseball.
