Improvisation (improv) is a kind of activity done without preparation. Students must create a scene, speak, act, react, and move without preparing. The decisions for what to say or do are made on the spot. Improv gives people the skills to be successful in any situation because it teaches you to listen clearly, speak clearly, and it allows you to be authentic.
The key skills associated with improv are being able to not only think on your feet, but to also be able to communicate and adjust to what the moment demands. This can mean solving a problem for a client or customer, adjusting to a changed deadline, or having the particulars of a project or order get completely changed and twisted around. Being able to roll with whatever comes your way and actually appear as though you always have everything under control is a valuable business skill.
